A college girl’s guide to quick and easy hair styling

Over the past month I have been trying to figure out quick and easy solutions for styling my hair in school. I always seem to run out of time in the morning but I think I’ve got my hair styling routine down pat as of recently. The first thing to figuring out the quickest ways to styling hair is knowing your hair type. If its already wavy/curly, curling your hair is obviously going to be much faster and vice versa for straight hair girls. If I want my hair to be straight, I typically have to do it the night before, because I know that it’ll take to long in the morning. As for curling my hair, I typically just touch up my natural waves/curls to give it a little for volume and consistency.

Mermaid curls. Since my hair is naturally curly, I like to perfect what my hair naturally does. To get this look above, I used the Nume Curl Jam which comes with three interchangeable curling wands in different sizes. It is also great, because it includes a straightener too! Everything is bundled up in one little pouch, which holds everything together and makes storing all of your styling devices a breeze. I used the medium barrel, since I like my curls to be a little looser. The most efficient way that I curl my hair is by dividing it into two sections: top and bottom. That way I don’t miss any pieces–this goes for straightening too. The best part about this wand, is that I notice my curls last for days! I can typically keep my hair styled like this for 3-4 days, which saves me a TON of time! All I do in the morning is sprinkle a little dry shampoo powder (my favorite is by Pacifica) to remove excess oils, and I am good to go!

No heat curls. Okay, so if you want to go the route of using no heat, my favorite way to style my hair is by using a sock. Yes, a sock. It sounds crazy, but it works pretty well! Pretty much all you need is a thigh high sock/bandana/headband, and this youtube vid. My curls from this don’t normally last as long as if I use heat, but I am quite impressed with this one. If your hair doesn’t hold curls well, I recommend sleeping with it on over night so it stays longer! If your hair naturally has some wave to it, you can probably leave the sock on for a half hour, which is what I do and take it out and go. I typically spray some sea salt spray (my fav is by Herbivore) in my hair and I am good to go!

Do you have any quick styling hacks? I’d love to read them in the comments below!
