The Ultimate E-Bike Guide

March 16, 2023shelbssays@gmail.com

Over the past two years, I have tested out three e-bikes that have really caught my eye–each one ranging in different prices and capabilities. If you’ve been debating getting an e-bike for this summer, take this as your sign! Since getting an one, I have taken just about every opportunity that I can to ride to friends’ houses, errands, the gym, beach days… you name it. Not only has it improved my health (yes, there’s pedal assist, but you’re still moving your body a heck of a lot more than sitting in your car every time you go somewhere!) but it has greatly increased the amount of time that I’ve spent outside–hello, serotonin boost! If you are trying to find the perfect bike for you, here are three awesome options: PS–there is a huge sale going on now until the end of March. If you are reading this past March, don’t worry, I have a discount below. 😉

The Ultra Fat Tire Bike

The Blix Ultra Fat Tire bike is built for speed, varying terrain, and a variety of activities. This is the most recent bike that we have added to our collection. From desert terrain, snow, and sand, this bike really handles it all. My partner and I recently took this bike on a cross-country roadtrip in the camper, and this bike took us on a variety of terrain. Not only is it a great off-roading bike, but with some added accessories, it becomes the perfect commuter bike, or even cargo bike. With the back rack and back seat, Anthony and I were able to go on a beach picnic date together and it handled the sand with the two of us, no problem! I also live in one of the snowiest towns in the US; this bike is EPIC in snowy conditions. This bike can switch between a class 2 and class 3 ebike–aka it goes FAST…up to 28 miles per hour and has a range of up to 80 miles. price: $2099

The Dubbel Utility Bike

The Dubbel Utility Bike is like a compact, cargo bike. With 200 pounds of cargo capacity, you can zoom around with a buddy or solo just fine! This bike also has fat tires, making it good for a variety of terrain. One big difference to note between the Dubbel and the Ultra, is the added suspension to the Ultra. The ride (as a passenger especially) is much smoother. However, the perk to the Dubbel is it’s compact size. This bike also can be accessorized to use it however you please, and has a range of 80 miles. price: $1900

The Vika+

The Vika+ is the first ebike that I got! It’s PERFECT to take on road trips because it folds up super compact! The Vika+ is super cute, coming in a variety of pretty colors. It has a very fun vintage beach cruiser vibe to it. This bike has a range of 45 miles–plenty to commute around anywhere you need to go. My bff recently took a coastal roadtrip to Carmel By The Sea, and did the 17 Mile Drive on our Vika+ bikes and had a blast! I use both a back basket and front basket! Stanley is known to hop in the back basket to go on rides with me! Price: $1599 (currently on sale!)

All of these bikes are so much fun, but as you can see, depending on how you plan to use your bike, you may need one over the other. If you are planning to buy an ebike after the sale, use my code: SHELBY50 for an extra discount. 🙂
