Fall Festivity Bucket List

Pumpkins.Cozy Clothes. Spooky Times. Hot Lattes.

Ahhhh. Fresh fall air is finally rolling into Maine. I love all that is to come with fall–the cozy layers of clothing, the New England air and colorful sights, retiring the usual iced coffee for something more warm and spiced, and the fun adventures that come with this season. Not to mention, I am finally not dying of heat in my dorm. We don’t have air conditioning, so it is always a brutal first month until autumn air decides to roll in. There are a lot of things that I crave this season, so I thought I would share for some fall festive inspiration for you and your friends!

The Fall Festive List

  1. Go support your local farms and see what they have to offer! There is a farm near my school campus that I always have to go to with my friends. They have wine tastings, fresh cider, cider donuts, apple picking, pumpkin picking, haunted houses, you name it. It is so special to get to go off campus for a little bit and have some fun, all while supporting a local place!
  2. Go apple picking! This is a huge thing in New England, and it has spoiled me to death. I can not eat apples anymore out of season because it just does not compare to fresh honey crisp apples that I pick right off the tree for myself!
  3. Pumpkin picking and carving–a classic fun break from studies.
  4. Go to the drive-in! The weather is snuggle perfect. Load the car up with bundles of blankets, pillows, and snacks, and prepare for an amazing time! Most drive-in places close after October, so do it while you can!

5. Find the best hiking spots. Not only is fall weather the perfect weather, it can be the most scenic, especially if you are in an area that is known for color changing leaves.

6.Coffee hunting. Now, I have been really trying to make my own coffee, as I am a coffee purchasing addict. But, sometimes it is just nice to treat yourself, and coffee is often the way I do that, and maybe some (too much) online shopping. Anyways, back to the point. Take advantage of all of the different coffee shops around you. I always crave hot coffee to warm me up during the cooler months and it is always a fun adventure to find the best latte in town.

7. Get Spooky! I am not one that likes to get scared, but sometimes it is just good to get a good scare out. Find a good haunted hay ride, or haunted house! Bring lots of friends, because that means you have more hands to hold if you are as much of a baby as I am!

8. Make fall festive sangria! I love love love fall spices, and what better way to use some of the apples you pick than to make Honey Crisp apple sangria?! I found a great recipe here.

9. Cheers to a good time around a fire. Grab some wine, s’mores, and friends. Bonfire’s just scream good times. This is one of my favorite ways to warm up with the ones I love.

10. Host a spooky Halloween party. Nothing is more fun than letting your creative juices go and making the perfect halloween costume. It is even more fun showing off your creations with friends! PS: if you are 21+ I found some great spooky jelloshot recipes here for your next party!

What are the things you look most forward to with autumn approaching?
