I can’t think of an adventure I like more than heading to the mountains and going skiing–especially right now with finding socially distanced and fun activities to do. With winter in full swing, skiing becomes one of my favorite daily activities and after hundreds of trips to the mountain, I’ve come up with a list of 5 items I won’t ever skip out on bringing for my trips.

  • Sunscreen and chapstick. I know we don’t typically think of slathering on sunscreen unless it’s summer and we are planning on going to the beach, but when the sun reflects on the snow and bounces to your face, you can get very burnt! Always ALWAYS bring some sunscreen to protect the skin that will be exposed. I always bring a couple of chapsticks with SPF (because I often lose them lol!) and they are a lifesaver! With harsh conditions, it’s easy to get chapped lips fast, so keep them moisturized at all times!
  • Face Masks. Do your part to keep ski towns and resorts safe! I always bring a few face masks just in case a friend or two forgets. Also, wearing a mask helps protect your face from extreme conditions; it’s a win-win!
  • Extra socks. I never wear my ski socks until I get to the mountain because you can risk getting them wet from snow or sweat beforehand, which makes for a sad day of skiing. Do your feet the favor and pack an extra pair of socks (or two!).
  • Snacks! Resort food is EXPENSIVE and it’s also more convenient than ever (with COVID) to just bring your own. With being Gluten-free and dairy-free, it can be hard to find great snacks for on the go. I recently stumbled upon Hippie Snacks, and they are my absolute favorite snacks to bring on any adventure. I’ve tried just about every flavor, and none of them disappoint. I like to fuel my body with quality ingredients, and Hippie Snacks makes it so easy while on the go!
  • Water. Bring lots of it. Skiing is a hard workout! Keep your body hydrated throughout the day to prevent exhaustion and injuries. Additionally, if you aren’t use to the elevation, you’ll need to drink even more water than you normally would to help your body adjust!
